Vehicles in India register 33.27 pc growth in April-June 2010

NEW DELHI: The overall vehicle production data for April-June 2010 shows production growth of 33.27 per cent over same period last year with industry producing 40,91,485 vehicles, according to the latest report by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Domestic Sales: Passenger vehicles segment in April-June 2010 grew at 32.70 per cent over same period last year. Passenger cars grew by 33.43 per cent, utility vehicles grew by 25.36 per cent and multi -purpose vehicles grew by 39.19 per cent in April-June 2010 over same period last year. The overall domestic sale of commercial vehicles segment registered growth at 54.72 per cent in April-June 2010 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCVs) registered growth at 83.12 per cent and light commercial vehicles grew at 35.68 per cent. During April-June 2010, three wheelers sales recorded a growth rate of 15.17 per cent. While passenger carriers grew by 16.53 per cent and goods carriers grew at 9.98 per cent in this period. Two Wheelers registered a growth rate of 27.60 percent in April-June 2010. Scooters, Mopeds and Motorcycles grew by 48.18 percent, 24.39 percent and 24.13 percent respectively. Exports : In April-June 2010, overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 59.30 per cent. Passenger vehicles, two wheelers, commercial vehicles and three wheelers segments grew by 11.20 percent, 67.50 per cent, 103.37 per cent and 150.33 respectively in April-June 2010 over April-June 2009.
